Articles on SidekicksCall us crazy, but here's our theory about the week-long Sidekick data outage experienced by Sidekick users as their Sidekick network (really the Danger network) went down. Users of the T-Mobile Sidekick have been without network coverage for as long as two days, with no relief in sight. Complaints started pouring into the Internet Patrol, as users found that the network was down, and they have no access to any data services (although they can still make telephone calls and some can send text messages - the Sidekick uses a data network provided by Danger, while phone calls and SMS still go out on T-Mobile's own network). While a Microsoft Zune Phone has been rumoured for months, no less a reliable source than Barrons says that a Zune Phone will be out by the first week of January. The Zune Phone, rumoured to be the industry-whispered "Project Pink", will be unveiled at CES, say industry insiders. If you're looking for new Sidekick reviews of the Sidekick 08 which do a Sidekick comparison between previous Sidekicks and the new Sidekick 2008, you've come to the right place! Video, stereo Bluetooth, and shells, shells, shells (you can even create your own custom shell)! The new Sidekick 08 has a lot going for it - but also a few things you need to know about that you may not appreciate so much. Today was an eventful day for mobile handheld device owners. First, the RIM Blackberry network went down - again - leaving thousands of Blackberry users in the dark. Then, it was announced that Microsoft was buying Palo Alto-based Danger, the company behind the Danger Hiptop - more popularly known as the Tmobile Sidekick. If you've been thinking of getting a new sidekick - waiting for the T mobile Sidekick 4 - wait no longer! The Tmobile Sidekick 4, actually known as the T-mobile Sidekick LX, was launched this week, and it was definitely worth waiting for! This Sidekick cell phone is a beauty! And with its amazing new screen - plus new features to take advantage of it such as screenshots and choice of font size - we say don't bother waiting for the Sidekick LX's little brother, the smaller Sidekick Slide. It's no secret that I love my T-Mobile Sidekick (while the hardware manufacturer, Danger, calls it the "HipTop", the only place to get it, T-Mobile, calls it the "Sidekick"). While legions are wondering whether their Blackberry service will go the way of the wind, or are dealing with getting their email to POP or iMap to their Treos, my Sidekick does everything I want it to do, and more. As any Sidekick owner - be it Sidekick I, Sidekick II, or Sk3 - can tell you, if your Sidekick (also known as the Danger Hiptop) has been exposed to water it will preclude any chance of your getting your Sidekick repaired or replaced under warranty. But how do they know? Here, we show you pictures of the tricky traps that are hidden on your Sidekick let Tmobile know whether your Sidekick has been exposed to water. If you want a flash player for the Sidekick 3, well, you're not alone. Thousands of people out there are looking for a flash player for the Sidekick 3. And here's what it comes down to... Here is my prediction: the next big thing from the Internet advertising point of view is going to be this: the convergence of always-on Internet and GPS in one device. Internet and GPS convergence. Now this is a fabulous theft and loss insurance for your phone, PDA or laptop! It's called StuffBak (because it helps you get your stuff back, get it?) and it's kind of like those microchipping i.d. services for pets, only it's for your portable electronic devices, such as your laptop, your PDA, and your cell phone! It's basically loss and theft insurance for your portables! And through a partnership with The Internet Patrol and StuffBak, you can get a 10% discount off their already incredibly reasonable pricing! We think that you can't go wrong with the Sidekick hand held Internet email device. For our money, it's the best handheld Internet email device on the market today. Here is a new Sidekick 3 mailing list (but don't call it a "Sidekick III" mailing list!) for Sidekick 3 users, and those thinking about getting a Sidekick 3! The Sidekick 3's swivel screen is held in place by a magnet. An incredibly strong magnet. In fact, it turns out, a magnet strong enough to wipe all your credit card or other magnetic strip card data in under a second. Don't believe it? We have the pictures to prove it. The new T-Mobile Sidekick 3 (not Sidekick III, no Roman numerals here!) came out this week, and our ongoing testing has revealed that the Sidekick 3, despite being Edge capable, is not actually yet on an Edge network. And if you want it, it will cost you. For what bluetooth services the T Mobile Sidekick 3 offers, it's quite decent. Of course, it doesn't have voice dialing. And it doesn't stop there. Because it also doesn't have any of the standard bluetooth services which you can get on pretty much any bluetooth-enabled phone now. Such as, you know, file transfer! You can find an online users manual for the T Mobile Sidekick 3 at the Danger site (it is, after all, really the Danger Sidekick). To get online help for the Sidekick 3 (not the Sidekick III, as they did away with the Roman numerals with the Sidekick II), go here. A Sidekick 3 by any other name (Danger Sidekick, Sidekick Phone, T-Mobile Sidekick - just not Sidekick III, please!) is the hottest new device to hit the streets. Complete with its own Sidekick 3 backgrounds (wallpaper) and its own Sidekick 3 bluetooth, here is a side by side comparison and review of the T Mobile Sidekick 3 (not the "T-Mobile Sidekick III" because they did away with the Roman numerals). After "buying" a stolen Sidekick, Sashacristal8905 at AOL used the stolen Sidekick to log into her AIM account, and take pictures of herself. And then was surprised when she was tracked down, and threatens the rightful owner! So does her brother, WarriorPena84, who is an MP in the Army. As millions ponder a life without the RIM Blackberry device, they wonder "is there an alternative to the Blackberry? Is there a replacement for the Blackberry?" The answer is a resounding "yes!" Urban Othello is an outdoor game of Othello, using city streets, and the T-Mobile Sidekick. The Defonic Crew, also known as the Defonic Team Screen Name Club, or just DFNCTSC for short, is the hacking group to which the young hacker who hacked Paris Hilton's Sidekick belonged. Now the youngest member of Defonic Crew has pleaded guilty to the hacking. Is the T-Mobile Sidekick About to Become the MCI Sidekick? This news release just came across Aunty's desk, and inquiring minds want to know!: ASHBURN, Va., June 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MCI, Inc. today announced a four-year agreement with Danger, Inc., provider ... As many of the Internet Patrol's regular readers know, Paris Hilton's Sidekick was hacked, and the data was posted to the Internet, several months ago. And they also know that one Nicholas Lee Jacobsen pleaded guilty to the T-Mobile hacking ... |
