The newest craze? BlogPins. BlogPins are 3-inch mini CDs. Of course, 3-inch mini CDs have been around for ages, but what is new is that these come with a special holder which is a 3-inch plastic holder with a pin on the back. After recording your mini CD and adding a custom label, you pop the CD face-forward on the front of the holder, pin it to your shirt, and voila - a BlogPin.

Well, only if you have a blog on the CD. Why you would want to carry your blog around on your chest is beyond even Aunty, although the company promoting BlogPins, CitiScape Shapes, which brings you, they say, “CD Business Cards and Retail Shape CDs” has other suggested uses, some rather creative.

“They make great keepsakes for Sweet 16 Parties, photo yearbooks, promote your favorite cause, promote yourself, express yourself,” says the CitiScape Shapes website. “You print the label yourself so get creative. Have something to say? Say it! Have a band? What a great way to get the word out. Record an EP or a Single and give them away as guest passes or VIP passes, give them out after the show, throw them from the stage or sell them at the door.”

You know what Aunty is thinking? Political campaigns. Just imagine if you could pop your “I Like Ike” button into your computer and hear a campaign speech!

You can order a complete BlogPin kit, and refills, from CityScape Shapes.

  1. …and hope that nobody uses a Mac Mini or PowerBook. Slot-loading drives hate those things.
