Want to really astound and amaze (and possibly startle and scare off) visitors to your website?

Then consider using a new service called “Timpani”, being offered by LivePerson.com

According to an Article in Call Center Magazine, “Timpani’s analytics engine allows you to track customers’ movements on every page of your company’s Web site enabling you to proactively address them in the most appropriate manner within real time. For example, if customers browse your Web site looking for information on different digital cameras, you can proactively offer them assistance in the form of instant chat, an e-mail window or knowledgebase content specifically chosen to address their issue. If customers don’t want assistance, they can click the “no, thanks” button.”

I don’t know, this sounds kind of creepy to Aunty; is this something which visitors to your website would appreciate, or would they feel that you were spying on them?

Aptly named, is Timpani, as your visitors may well feel that you are pounding on them.

You can read more about this at CallCenterMagazine.

  2. They aren’t the first to offer this type of tracking. Check out the uber cool: Visitorville.com where you can watch buses and taxis drop off site visitors at your website.

  3. You do not need this service to accomplish the smae function …. and for free: all you need is the following code in your JavaScript

    on the then program a chatWindw() with the appropriate chat code.

    A bit more sophisticated would be to update a cookie and track it across different pages with topics, then pop-up the chat when the time and subject are just right!

  4. You do not need this service to accomplish the smae function …. and for free: all you need is the following code in your JavaScript

    on the BODY tag, enter onload=”Sleep(5000, ‘chatWindow();’ );”
    then just program a chatWindow()

    For a bit more sophistication, set a tracking cookie and then pop-up chat whenever the subject matter and time on site warrant.
