You may have heard about eBay Now and the eBayNow app, and may well be wondering “What is eBay Now?” and “Where can I get eBay Now?” Essentially, eBay Now is an eBay personal shopping service, with a twist. Here is everything you need to know about this nifty same day delivery (in fact, within a hour) eBay shopping service, and also where it is currently active.

eBay Now is a service where you can create an order for items at regular retailers, such as Target, Macy’s, etc., through the eBay Now app, and have a personal shopper (eBay Now calls them a “valet”) pick up your item and deliver it to you, within about an hour!

And all of this for only a $5.00 delivery fee!

You start by searching for the item you want:

And the app will find your item at the various participating retailers in your location:

We found some of these ‘popular searches’ amusing, primarily because they are, you know, popular searches:

Anyways, after you place your order through the eBay Now app, you will be assigned a valet (personal shopper):

In our secret shopper’s experience, the valet was changed mid-stream, but it did not seem to affect the end-user experience at all:

As you can see, eBay Now keeps you updated every step of the way, much like a tracking service:

While it is not required to tip your valet, it is cool that 100% of your tip (via cash or charge card) goes directly to the valet.

Here is what our eBay Now secret shopper has to say about their eBay Now experience:

“My experience with Ebay Now was great. I needed a few things for the
weekend that I did not see myself having time to go out and get
myself. I ordered my items at 10:38am, and they arrived at 11:48am.
Ingrid delivered my order, and she even called me while she was at the
store from which I needed the items to verify the specific color I
wanted in a v-neck t-shirt. It felt like I was on the phone with one
of my girlfriends while we were shopping. She was prompt and
courteous, and I love how the app kept me updated on where my order
was in the process. I will absolutely use this service again. It is
simple, convenient, and the $5 delivery fee is worth it.”

Sounds pretty great, doesn’t it?

Now for the bad news: eBay Now is currently only available in New York, San Francisco, and San Jose. They are cagey about whether they plan to add additional locations soon, so those of you who aren’t in one of those three cities will have to do your shopping for new merchandise the old fashioned way: online.

Many thanks to Jessica Harris of The Wiseass Wife for being our secret shopper!
